All Tires Do Not Have The Same Lifespan

The life of a tire does not only depend on its quality, but also on the person behind the wheel and the road conditions.

Who Drives the Car, Where, and How?

Ask your mechanic, he will tell you ... tire wear depends largely on driving.

  1. So, if your vehicle is used by the whole family, do a little tip at the top if you find the frequency of new tire purchases too high.
  2. There is surely one who likes a whirlwind starts, quick turns, brakes at the last moment, and uses the handbrake.

What Wears Out a Tire?

The wear of your tires also depends on the environment in which you drive.

  1. In town or in the suburbs, you have many lights, the stops at every intersection, then the traffic jams.
  2. In the countryside, the traffic is more fluid, but remember that the gravel paths are not to be neglected.
  3. In addition to road conditions, there is obviously the mileage carried out and the severity of the seasons, or the fact that the tires are too inflated or not sufficiently.

Note: Be sure to have the vehicle's alignment checked annually. Otherwise, your tires will wear more on one side than the other.

The Typical Life of a Tire:

On average, under normal conditions, a tire will need to be changed every 30,000 km.

  1. To increase the life of your tires, we recommend one rotation (permutation) every 5,000 to 8,000 km.
  2. To remember, combine it with the oil change (or every other time).

Important: There is a manufacture date stamped on the tires (often on the inside). Never accept a tire that is more than six years old.

  1. The rubber will have hardened, and the service life could be considerably shortened.
  2. Also, consider the age of the spare tire.

A Tire "on the Buttock"?

An expression which means that the tread is so worn that it is non-existent and no longer offers grip on the road.

  1. In principle, avoid going to this level of wear which no longer offers any security.
  2. The minimum furrow depth is 1.6 mm so that your tire can still be used.

Manufacturer Guarantees:

There is a wide range of tire qualities. Some manufacturers guarantee these for 70,000, 90,000 and even 130,000 km.

  1. However, to benefit from a replacement if you do not meet the guaranteed mileage, it will be necessary to demonstrate that the wear is uniform and normal.
  2. You must therefore have carried out all the preventive maintenance required by the manufacturer: storage, rotation, calibration, vehicle alignment, etc.
