Foggy Car Glass, Here's How to Overcome it

Dew on the windshield occurs due to differences in humidity and temperature. Usually, the humidity and temperature outside are cooler than inside the cabin. Although many consider it trivial, it turns out that the dew on the windshield is actually quite dangerous. Due to the impaired  visibility of the driver, the dew can cause a fatal accident. Not only that, dew that stays on the glass for too long can also cause water scale to form on the glass surface. Therefore, here are 5 ways to get rid of the dew on the windshield when it rains, as reported by the Astra Insurance website.

Turn on the Air Conditioner During the Trip:

AC temperatures that are too cold can indeed cause the glass to fog up. However, the solution is not to turn off the AC. In fact, it is recommended that you turn on the air conditioner to help remove the dew, especially when it is raining or it is cold outside the car. Just set the AC temperature and adjust it to the temperature outside when it rains.

Activate Anti-Fog (defogger):

Defogger can be found on the back of the windshield with thin wire lines as a heat condenser, both vertically and horizontally. The presence of a defogger in the rainy season can help remove dew, so that the driver's visibility when looking at the rear will be clearer. To activate the defogger, you simply press the button with the image of three curved arrows on the dashboard of your vehicle.

Anti-fog Liquid:

For those people who want a more practical way, you can buy an anti-fog liquid product or a defogger at a car equipment store. After that, simply spray the anti-fog liquid on the inner glass, let it sit for a while, then wipe with a dry soft cloth by moving in the same direction several times.

Use Hair Shampoo:

Another way to get rid of condensation on the windshield when it rains is to apply it with a hair shampoo before starting to drive. The formula found in hair shampoo can actually prevent the formation of dew because the humidity around the glass is maintained. How to use it is simple. you just need to apply a little shampoo on the inside of the windshield (but don't mix with water), then wipe the glass with a slightly damp synthetic (chamois) cloth (don't mix with water) in a straight sideways direction (in the same direction, so the glass doesn't blur). After that, if the rain has stopped and the weather is sunny again, immediately clean your windshield from shampoo using a cloth until clean.
