4 Causes of Car Blowing White Smoke from Exhaust

When you start your vehicle and you will notice that white smoke is coming from the exhaust. In this article we will tell you why this could happen or is it danger sign for you vehicle or not. Commonly white smoke is completely harmless but there are some conditions in which white smoke become sign that something bad is going on in the engine of your vehicle.

4 Causes of White Smoke Blowing from the Exhaust:

1 Condensation:

In Cold Seasons when you start the vehicle and you notice white smoke coming from your car exhaust, this happen because when warm gasses of engine and cold air of the atmosphere meet then a process called condensation occurs. As a result you will see the steam of white smoke color from your car exhaust which is normal and completely harmless and there is nothing to worry. After the short amount of driving the exhaust of the engine becomes hot and temperature of the gases also increase, this lesson the amount of smoke.

2 Coolant Leak:

As I told you above in normal condition the white smoke become lesson when engine gets heated but if you continue to see white smoke coming from the exhaust then it might be a sign of coolant is leaking. The most common symptom of internal coolant leak is that when smoke coming out from the exhaust it leaves sweet odor in the atmosphere and if white smoke didn’t stop even you have did long journey and your vehicle engine is at peak temperature and also sweet smell is present then it definitely a issue of coolant leakage. This usually happens when there is crack in the head of the cylinder or engine is block, it doesn’t matter how much the size of the crack even if the crack is so small that it cannot be seen with the naked eye, the internal coolant can leak easily and contaminate the engine oil and form milky appearance. If just a minute amount of coolant get leak in the combustion chamber it will be enough to produce white smoke. This will reduce the level of coolant in the engine and your vehicle engine get overheated and engine internal moving components get worn out faster which leads to the permanent damage and can cost you a lot of money.

3 Piston Rings or Valve Seal Leak:

Bad Ring Piston and Valve Seal leak are also major cause of smoke coming out from the exhaust. When the ring piston worn out the engine oil gets leak and goes towards combustion chamber which further mix with the fuel coming out from injectors and get burnt. As a result white or light bluish smoke with burning smell comes out from the exhaust.

4 Bad Fuel Injectors:

If the seals of the fuel injectors is damaged or if there is any fault in the fuel injectors, it will delivers too much fuel in the combustion chamber. This abundant amount of fuel doesn’t burn completely in the internal combustion chamber and it comes out as white or gray smoke from the pipe.
