6 Tips for Driving in the Rain

Every year, many weather-related accidents are caused due to the rain.  Driving can become difficult in the rainy conditions. But, driving in the rain should not be a nerve-wracking experience. Keep in mind that severe weather needs your undivided attention, so it recommended staying mindful all the time. Here are some tips for driving in the rain.

Dry the Brakes

Wet roads mean wet brakes and it means that you need to be considered about them. In the rainy roads, the four-wheel discs on most cars can be coated with water just when you need them most. Some cars also add heat to remove the water, but you can also do this by gently touching the brakes after splashing through a wet spot.

Use Windshield Wipers

In the rain, the windshield wipers come into play. Make it sure that your windshield wipers work as designed. If the wipers leave streaks on the glass or take more than one swipe to clean the glass, it is time to replace them. You may consider buying new wipers as an expanse, but it is can save you plenty of money in the long run. They may help you avoid collisions by creating a clear line of sight.

Slow Down

It is recommended to be extra careful when driving during the first 5 to 10 minutes of rainfall. Additionally, wet pavement can make it more difficult to handle the car.

Use Technology Wisely

Today’s cars come equipped with many drive assist functions than ever before, but many cannot adapt to the rainy weather. Many of these features can create a false sense of control. However, ABS systems are excellent in the rain as well as traction control and stability control.

Turn Your Lights On

It is always good for yourself and other if you are making yourself more visible to other drivers on the roads. Turning your lights on in the rain is even more important. It is common that visibility can be decreased drastically during the rain and it became important for the other cars to see you as clearly as possible.
