3 Common Symptoms of a Car Engine Seizing Up

The engine of the vehicles consists of many small metal components that work in harmony with other moving components of the vehicle. But when these components get damaged or worn out, they also affect the functioning of the other parts of the engine. Once these issues arise and you don’t fix these problems in time and you are driving with these issues, as a result, it will seize up the engine, it means that one or more component of the vehicle is not moving and locked up. The main cause of engine seize up is overheated of the engine due to the low level of engine oil and welding of components together. It is very difficult to repair these issues because it requires the overhaul of the engine and all the components in the engine should be replaced,7 sometimes the damage is very severe that you may end up having to replace your entire engine.

Top 3 Symptoms of a Vehicle Engine Seizing Up:

(1) Check Oil Light:

When your car engine seizes up, it will stop the flow of engine oil. Your vehicle's main computer detects that something is wrong with the circulation of the engine oil once this happens as a result main computer of the vehicle turns on the check oil light on the infotainment system of the vehicle. Some vehicles also turn on check engine lights to indicate the severity of the problem. So single or both lights turns on when the engine seizes up.

(2) Weak Acceleration:

Weak acceleration is the initial symptoms of the seizing engine but you still are able to drive your vehicle, when it begins to seize then the performance of the engine slow down gradually. It means that when you try to increase the acceleration by pressing down the pedal the engine will not be able to gain speed as it normally would. In severe cases, you will not be able to gain speed at all, and then it will eventually come to a point where the engine won’t be able to work anymore and your vehicle just stops until you replace or overhaul the engine.

(3) Knocking Sounds:

When the engine seizing up begins the piston rod knocks with the crankshaft, it happens repeatedly because these components work at very high RPM and it produces knocking sound constantly coming from the vehicle. The sound of the vehicle becomes louder; if you don’t address these issues in time, as a result, it will cause permanent damage to the engine which costs you a lot of money.
